This is one of the hardest things we can do for ourselves. So much of the satisfaction we feel in our lives comes from getting good results, whether that is money, accolades, or status. This puts us on a never-ending roller coaster of other people’s judgments of us. And all of these are out of our control. I am rechallenging you all to make the satisfaction be doing the work rather than the result you get.
Part of having no limits to what we are capable of is not accepting our current station in the world. This comes in the form of 2 options. First, ” I have made it.” Second, “I cannot possibly make it.” These are opposites and equally bad and not true.
The world teaches us to limit what we think we are capable of, and we learn that lesson very well. We become scared to think about what is possible because of the possibility of failure and how we will feel then. Stop it! Stop worrying about failing and stop putting limits on what it is you think you can do. Believe in you and the possibility of greatness.
This is the idea of sunk cost. As soon as you realize that something in your life has gone bad, you need to move on. It can be very hard because you might have time or money heavily invested into that thing. Oh well, move on!
